The film follows an Afghan filmmaker in Moria on Lesbos, who uses his camera to fight hopelessness and gives a voice to thousands of refugees with a film. Documentary / DE 2023 / Director: Lina Lužytė / 83 min. / OmdtU
With the camera against hopelessness: Documentary filmmaker Lina Lužyte follows Afghan artist Talibshah Hosini, who is stuck with his family in the Greek camp Moria. There, he writes, produces and shoots a feature film about a family that has fled with other asylum seekers. As expected, the shoot is turbulent, and outside, arsonists threaten the camp. But for all the harsh criticism of European asylum policy, this is also a story of triumph and redemption.
A moving document about the power of art as a means of survival.
Afterwards there will be a post-film discussion and space to exchange ideas.
