A touching and poetic reflection on the beauty of the everyday world and the uniqueness of every human being. Feature film / JP 2023 / Director: Wim Wenders, Takuma Takasaki / 123 min. / OV + German subtitles
Hirayama cleans public toilets in Tokyo. He seems perfectly content with his simple, secluded life and, away from his highly structured daily routine, devotes himself to his passion for music, which he listens to on audio cassettes, and for literature, which he reads every evening in second-hand paperbacks. Through a series of unexpected encounters, a past that he has long since left behind gradually comes to light.
The film is a moving and poetic reflection on the search for beauty in the everyday world and shows the satisfaction that can be found in the "little things" in life.
