Women of Greifswald—freedom hasn't started yet!

Dance Theater and Exhibition Opening

Under the artistic direction of Silke Lenz, the independent ensemble in:between explores the tensions and turning points in the lives of six remarkable, lesser-known women from Greifswald: Luise Greger, Gertrud Berger, Sibylla Schwarz, Anneliese Pflugbeil, Sophie Dorothea Soldmann, and Alwine Wuthenow. Women whose lives and work were shaped by social upheavals. What internal and external struggles did they have to overcome, and what aspirations and ideals did they pursue? Through a deeply personal lens, the performers shed light on the hidden, the unknown, and the extraordinary aspects of these women’s lives—and give their individual life stories a moving moment.

The research material for “Women of Greifswald – Freedom Has Not Yet Begun” is presented in a traveling exhibition of photographs, images, and writings.

Following the performance, the exhibition opening and a discussion will take place.
