A play. A dance. A fight. A relationship. A performance. Leading up to it: Choreographic Laboratory “Schattenspur”
Where the Boys Are is a creation for younger audience (13+), playfully exploring the intersection of dance and martial arts. Examining and reconstructing the vocabulary of different fighting practices, the two performers transform the arena into a zone of sensitive and intimate action, and expose different perspectives on relations between young men.
Choreography: Yotam PeledPerformers: Nicolas Knipping, Andrius Nekrasoff
The evening begins with the choreographic laboratory “Schattenspur.” Choreographer Dörte Bähr opens the dance studio to both the audience and the dancers from Wildwuchs, inviting them to explore, create, and experiment together. Using the typical vocabulary of contemporary dance, the audience will have the opportunity this time to participate choreographically in the performance and to ask the dancers questions or give them dance instructions. The boundary between audience and performers dissolves, and choreographic collaboration as well as participation in the creative process of the new dance theater piece “Schattenspur” (premiere February 27, 2027) is encouraged. The Choreographic Laboratory aims to provide a glimpse into the otherwise intimate world of creative rehearsals, which is usually kept behind closed doors.
