Series of events at STRAZE marking the anniversary of Russia's attack on Ukraine

To mark the anniversary, STRAZEkultur, the Casablanca Greifswald Film Club, and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have collaborated to develop and compile a program featuring four different events.

The different formats deal with the topic of war in various ways, focusing on its consequences for the population, but also on the future of the people.

In the exhibition “Healed lands | Зцілені землі – Stories from the liberated territories in Ukraine,” the images and stories on display, a series of articles as part of the project “Stories from the liberated territories” by the Ukrainian online reportage magazine “The Ukrainians” in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation, show that the people of Ukraine are not giving up and waiting for outside help, but are actively bringing life back to their homes and communities – even though the war is still raging.
The exhibition can be visited until March 8, Sunday–Friday, 2–6 pm, and by appointment.

On February 23, the Filmclub Casablanca Greifswald e. V. will show the Ukrainian sci-fi drama “U are the Universe” (with German and Ukrainian subtitles!).
With a great deal of emotion, but also black humor, this Ukrainian response to existentialist science fiction films such as “2001,” “Solaris,” “Dark Star,” and “Moon” touches on timeless themes: mortality, loneliness, longing, and a universal need for human closeness, which even brightens the nihilistic final chord.

On March 1, the monodrama “The Road to Yrij” takes us on a poetic journey through memory, identity, and hope, to Yrij – a mythical land, a place where there is no winter, no pain, no aggression, and no grief. It is based on personal writings, Ukrainian literature, and traditional songs.

And on March 2, STRAZEkultur and the Heinrich Böll Foundation MV invite you to a lecture and discussion with Mariana Yaremchyshyna, Robert Sperfeld, and Inna Semenova on “Four Years of War Against Ukraine – Consequences for Ukrainian Society.”
