Initiatives of the STRAZE invite to a discussion on 12.06.2023 at 6.30 p.m.
Am 18.06. entscheiden Greifswalder*innen mit Wahlberechtigung, ob es der Stadt in Zukunft möglich sein wird, städtische Flächen an den Kreis zu verpachten, um dort Containerdörfer für Geflüchtete zu errichten. Für den 12.6. um 18.30 Uhr laden verschiedene Vereine, die in der STRAZE wirken, zu einer Informations- und Gesprächsveranstaltungzum Bürger*innenentscheid ein. Alle Menschen, die noch unentschlossen sind oder die mehr über die Hintergründe des Bürger*innenentscheids erfahren möchten, sind herzlich eingeladen. Schon jetzt hängen an vielen Straßen Plakate der Initiator*innen des Bürger*innenentscheids und die ihrer Gegner. Viele Initiativen und Vereine der STRAZE werben dafür, am 18.6. mit "Ja" zu stimmen, auch wenn sie gleichzeitig die Unterbringung in Containerdörfern ablehnen. Für Antonia Huhn, die für die Caritas Ukrainehilfe arbeitet und außerdem die Ja-Kampagne unterstützt, ist dies kein Widerspruch. "Wir zeigen mit unserem Ja, dass Migrant*innen in der Stadt willkommen sind." Die Kampagne betont außerdem, dass der Schutz von Menschen auf der Flucht nicht in Frage stehen darf. Die Initiatoren des Bürger*innenentscheids, die für ein "Nein" werben, behaupten zwar, dass sie eine "menschenwürdige Unterbringung" befürworten. Beim näheren Hinsehen stellt sich das jedoch als bloße Taktik dar. Es ist nicht zu übersehen, dass sie rechte, migrationsfeindliche, nationalistische und antisemitische Positionen vertreten. Sie gaben ein Interview mit dem vom Verfassungsschutz als „gesichert rechtsextrem" eingestuften Magazin „Compact". Einer der Initiatoren, Ronny Bohrmann, teilt Videos des rechten und verschwörungsideologischen Internetmediums Auf1 und der antisemitischen Sekte OCG. Er vertritt im Internet außerdem offen reichsbürgerideologische Standpunkte, die Bundesrepublik sei kein Staat sondern ein Firmenkonstrukt mit Scheinstaatlichkeit. "Diese Zusammenhänge sind natürlich nicht allen offensichtlich, die bisher den Bürger*innenentscheid unterstützt haben. In vielen Äußerungen der Menschen, die sich gegen die Unterbringung von Geflüchteten in ihrer Nähe aussprechen, zeigen sich aber rassistische Denkmuster" sagt Katriona Dannenberg, die in der STRAZE ihr Büro hat und zu der Informationsveranstaltung einlädt. "Es ist wichtig, dies zu benennen und zu reflektieren." Auch um Klarheit in die verschiedenen Aussagen zu bringen und die Motivationen der gegenüberstehenden Lager aufzuzeigen, laden die Initiativen zu der Informationsveranstaltung ein. On June 18, voting eligible Greifswalders will decide whether it will be possible for the city to lease municipal land to the district with the purpose of building container villages for refugees. Hence, on June 12 at 6.30 p.m., the various associations that work in the STRAZE invite you to an information and discussion event on the topic of the referendum. All people who are still undecided or who would like to learn more about the background of the referendum are cordially invited.
The posters of both the initiators of the referendum and those of their opponents are already hanging in many streets. Many initiatives and associations of the STRAZE advertise to vote on 18.06. with "Yes", even if they reject the accommodation in container villages. For Antonia Huhn, who works for Caritas Ukrainehilfe and also supports the Yes-campaign, this is not a contradiction. "We show with our "Yes" that migrants are welcome in the city." The campaign also emphasizes that the protection of people on the run must not be in question.
The initiators of the referendum, who are campaigning for a "no" vote, do claim that they are in favor of "humane accommodation." On closer inspection, however, this turns out to be mere tactics. It cannot be overlooked that they hold right-wing, anti-migration, nationalist and anti-Semitic positions. They gave an interview to the magazine "Compact," which is classified by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as "securely right-wing extremist." One of the initiators, Ronny Bohrmann, shares videos of the right-wing and conspiracy-ideological Internet medium Auf1 and the anti-Semitic sect OCG. He also openly represents the Reichsbürger ideological viewpoints on the Internet, saying that the Federal Republic is not a state but a corporate construct with a sham statehood.
"Of course, these connections are not obvious to everyone who has supported the referendum so far. However, racist thought patterns are evident in many statements made by people who oppose the housing of refugees in their neighborhoods" says Katriona Dannenberg, who has her office in the STRAZE and invites people to the information event. "It is important to name and reflect this."
Also to bring clarity to the various statements and to show the motivations of the opposing camps, the initiatives invite to the information event. We are happy about all who come.
